What Zero-Fare Actually Means

People hear "zero fare" and they hear "free."

It is not the same thing.

"Free" means nobody paid. Zero fare means you did not pay. Those are different sentences.

GratisFare is funded by the brands that benefit from you moving through Kansas City — the venues, the breweries, the local companies that want 15 uninterrupted minutes with you while you are being driven somewhere you already wanted to go.

They pay. You ride. The driver gets paid a real wage.

This is not a new idea. Transit has worked this way for a hundred years — taxpayers fund it so riders do not have to. We are doing the same thing, except the taxpayer is a local brand that actually wants to be associated with the best version of Kansas City nightlife.

When you become a founding member, you are not taking advantage of anything. You are proving that the demand exists. You are the reason the sponsors have a reason to sign.

143 deposits. That is the first gate. That is when we file our TNC license with the State of Missouri and make this real.

Be one of the 143 — $35 deposit, $65/month locked forever.
